A mudder always by your side
What is OCR?
According to Google, Obstacle course racing (OCR) is a sport in which a competitor, travelling on foot, must overcome various physical challenges that are in the form of obstacles. Mud and trail runs are combined and the races are designed to result in mental and physical collapse.
Or in other words…it’s just a lot of fun!
Are you new to OCR? Not sure where to start? Well OCR SoloMudders is here to help. “There is always a mudder by your side” with us.

Do I have to pay a membership?
Nope, there is no membership fee. Being cool is just fine.
How old do I have to be in order to race?
Different events have different rules on age, but normally 7yrs with no upper age limit – you’re never too old to get muddy!
How fit do I need to be in order to race?
Not very. If you can walk to the shop, you can walk an OCR! You don’t need to run or over do it straight away. Walking and building up to a jog, then to a run, is just fine. You’ll get plenty of help on the course and your fitness will improve over time.
Do I have to get muddy?
Walking around a muddy puddle is possible and there are lots of OCR’s that do not have mud, but who doesn’t want to get muddy!?
I have a disability, can I still race?
Sure you can! The Solo Mudders have pushed mudders around in wheel chairs, walked with those on crutches and helped many mudders with all sorts of disabilities. You will have so much fun on the course and get so much support. You’ll be sure to get to the finish line!
Do I have to be based in the UK?
No. We are currently mainly in the UK but we do have mudders from the USA and all over Europe. Wherever you are from, your are welcome here.
I joined Solomudders 3 seasons ago when I had no one else to run with and had started to worry about eventing on my own. I was going through tough times in many areas. Meeting everyone has enlightened not only my love for OCR but reignited my love for life again.
Solo Mudders has changed how I look at OCR I used to just turn up run and go home, but now it’s awesome having a bit catch up with solos before the event and after if camping, not only that but you make some brilliant friends along the way and have so much more fun on course!!
I got invited to run with a few of the guys on a random tough mudder. Fast forward a year or so and I’m stuck in a lift with 9 of the drunken muppets. Wouldnt change any of it though, you beautiful muddy bar stewards.
I was Introduced to some of the solo mudders last September. My love for OCR had been fading but is now well & truly back. I look forward to muddy runs & socialising with these guys.
I’m relatively new to Solo Mudders, but it has already enhanced my OCR addiction even further. A great bunch that I’ve only enagaged with via social media so far, but feel like I can happily join members if I come across them at events.

The SoloMudders is an awesome group of people from all walks of life who want to get muddy at the weekend. I’ve had the pleasure to run, walk and jog with many of them, as well as climb over many, and be climbed on by some. I’ve been fortunate to have fantastic weekends with them across the UK and Europe. I started OCR with my best friend, but with the SoloMudders, I now have so many more.
I’d never run with the SoloMudders until Germany, but damn was I made to feel welcome! It meant a lot when, as the slowest of them, the group put me at the front as they didn’t want me to get disheartened at the back!
